Nell Stark grew up predominantly on the East Coast of the United States (with a brief stint in France as an adolescent) and attended Dartmouth College, where she double-majored in English (with an emphasis in creative writing) and history. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she focused on early medieval English literature. She is now an Assistant Professor of English at a community college in the SUNY system.
Nell began publishing with Bold Strokes Books in 2007 and has published nine titles with the company. She has also published Confucius Jane under her legal name (Katie Lynch) with Forge Books.
Nell lives in New York City with her wife, their son, and and their two dogs.
